Commercial Service

Commercial
Pools with IBIX Polyfusion Coating

Overview of the service

IBIX Polyfusion is a flame-sprayed, fusion-bonded thermoplastic (acid-modified polyolefin) coating that forms a flexible, seamless, chemical- and water-resistant membrane on concrete and fibreglass pool substrates.

BlastOff Solutions provides commercial Polyfusion pool services for aquatic centres, hotel and resort pools, swim schools, gym and rehabilitation pools, and public swimming facilities across New Zealand. Polyfusion delivers a long-life pool finish with full chemical resistance, certified anti-slip on surrounds, and rapid return to service. Ideal for venues that cannot afford long shutdowns or repeated repaint cycles.

How we deliver IBIX
precision systems

Our IBIX process is focused on control, speed, and performance.

Project details and site constraints help us confirm the correct IBIX system and scope of work.

01
Site assessment to confirm substrate (concrete or fibreglass) and system suitability
02
Pool drained and existing coatings removed by abrasive blasting (NZS / AS 1627.4)
03
Substrate inspection — repair of cracks, hollow spots, and delamination
04
Solvent wipe-down and degreasing to remove residual contaminants
05
Polyres N epoxy primer applied as a sealing bi-component primer

Why Polyfusion for Pools®

Traditional pool coatings; chlorinated rubber, acrylic, two-pack epoxy, and plaster, degrade under constant chlorine exposure, UV, and waterline calcium build-up. Most pool paints last 2–5 years before recoating is required, with each cycle meaning weeks of downtime and lost revenue.

Polyfusion eliminates these problems by fusion-bonding a continuous thermoplastic membrane to the pool shell; chemical-resistant, UV-stable, non-porous, and field-repairable. The pool is back in service in days, not weeks, and the finish is designed to last many years between maintenance cycles.

Performance Advantage

Polyfusion® pool coatings are engineered for constant immersion in chlorinated and saltwater pools, with the chemical, mechanical, and UV resistance demanded by commercial and residential pool owners across New Zealand.
01
Resistant to constant immersion in chlorinated and saltwater pools
02
Excellent UV resistance — no chalking or colour breakdown
03
Anti-osmotic vapour barrier — no blistering from substrate moisture
04
Stain resistant — no porosity for calcium, rust, or algae to take hold
05
Extreme flexibility (>500% elongation) — accommodates substrate movement
06
DIN 51130 anti-slip certified — R12 finish for pool surrounds and steps

Ideal Applications

Commercial and residential pool environments across New Zealand. From aquatic centres and resort pools through to in-ground concrete and fibreglass home pools. Where long-life chemical and UV resistance, anti-slip surrounds, and minimal downtime are required.

01
Constant immersion chemical resistance (chlorine, salt, pH variation)
02
UV stability and colour retention
03
Anti-slip certification for pool surrounds (DIN 51130 — R12)
04
Adhesion testing (pull-off MPa, glue-failure mode)
05
Anti-osmotic vapour barrier (no blistering)

Tested & Proven

IBIX Polyfusion® thermoplastic coatings are supported by independent testing and international performance benchmarks, including DIN 51130 (slip resistance), EN 13813 (screed compliance), pull-off adhesion testing, and ASTM / ISO chemical and abrasion methodologies. Polyfusion is also approved for drinking water and food contact.

IBIX Polyfusion® vs Traditional Pool Coatings

Polyfusion offers clear advantages over conventional pool coating systems, particularly for pools that need long service life with minimal downtime between maintenance cycles.
