The below-ground structure at Nixon Park was taking on water through the block walls and floor. Surface patching over the existing coatings was not going to resolve the problem, since moisture was reaching the structure from outside and the old finishes were no longer providing an effective barrier. A proper waterproofing system needed to be built from a sound, exposed substrate rather than applied over failing material.
BlastOff sandblasted all existing coatings from the block walls and concrete floor to expose a clean, sound substrate for the new system. A torch-applied membrane tanking system was then installed across the walls, giving continuous coverage rather than isolated patching. NOVAFLO drainage coil was installed alongside the tanking to collect groundwater and carry it away from the structure, so the membrane and the drainage worked together as one engineered response to the moisture problem rather than as separate fixes.
Preparation, waterproofing and drainage were delivered together as one accountable scope for Auckland Council. The below-ground structure at Nixon Park now has a continuous membrane barrier across its block walls backed by working drainage, giving the council a system built to keep the space dry rather than a temporary surface repair.
When Auckland Council needed to deal with water tracking into a below-ground structure at Nixon Park in Kingsland, the fix had to go deeper than a fresh coat of paint. A torch-applied membrane tanking system was then installed across the block walls, giving continuous coverage rather than a series of isolated patches at the areas that looked worst. Alongside the tanking, NOVAFLO drainage coil was installed to collect groundwater and carry it away from the structure, so the membrane was not left to fight water pressure on its own.

Coatings that look intact from a distance can be masking a substrate that is already compromised, and painting over that problem rarely buys much time.
